Laureen "Lori" Carol (Zell) Nock, 80, of Beaumont, Texas, left us peacefully on February 19, 2026 at Coventry Place in Decatur, Georgia. Born on March 16, 1945, in Madison, Wisconsin, she earned her Masters degree in Library Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
She met her husband, William, on a blind date in Anchorage, Alaska, married him at an Air Force base in Hawaii, and traveled the world with him before settling down in Beaumont, Texas with their two children. There, she was a children's librarian for the Beaumont Public Library system until she retired. Laureen loved books, giraffes, and cozy BBC dramas. She had an abiding fondness for Scotland, and in 2024 she traveled there with her son Ryan and daughter-in-law on one last international adventure.
Laureen was preceded in death by her husband, William Nock, her sister, Barbara Porter, and her parents, Laurence and Clariette Zell. She is survived by her children, Eric Nock of Beaumont, Texas, and Ryan Nock (Katherine) of Atlanta, Georgia; and her siblings, Robert Zell of Mequon, Wisconsin, and Jean Wahlin of Laguna Nigel, California.
At the family's request, there will be no service at this time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests you read a book to a child.
