Laurel "Laurie" Jane McCulloch Graham, 79, of Warsaw, Indiana, passed peacefully in her sleep in the early morning of December 13, 2022. She is the daughter of Bryson and Harriet McCulloch, and a sister to Timothy (wife, Norma) McCulloch, Kathie (husband, Doug) O’Leary, and Thomas (wife, Sharon) McCulloch.
Laurie was a graduate of both Western Michigan University & Indiana University, and subsequently a lifelong teacher in the North Webster area. Laurie was widely known and professionally recognized for her compassion for her career and especially her students, many of whom she remained in contact with for the rest of her life. She also had the privilege of being able to teach the children of many former students. Many of her students may remember her as Mrs. Howard. Laurie even continued private tutoring after retiring.
Laurie had many varied interests through her life, from ballet, at an early age, to drums, to gardening, travel, collecting, and scrapbooking.
Most of all Laurie, together with her husband, Arthur Graham, enjoyed raising a large family, and together they have 6 children: Troy (wife, Tatiana) Graham of Union, MI, Julie (husband, Mike) Oswalt of Vicksburg, MI, Daniel Graham of Warsaw, IN, Aaron (wife, Julia) Graham of Santa Clara, CA, Joseph (wife, Elizabeth) Graham of Noblesville, IN, and Alycia (husband, Ryan) Hurd of Winona Lake, IN. In addition, Laurie and Art have 13 grandchildren: Alanna, Alex, Abbey, Luke, Kai, Zoe, Grace, Ian, Bella, Eva, Peyton, Dortha, and Braden.
Those who were fortunate enough to be close to her will remember Laurie for her smile, her elegance, her friendship, her infectious laugh, her sincere advice, and her care for the people she loved. She was a dynamo, always on the go, up at the earliest hour of every morning (much to the chagrin of her children), and the last to retire in the evening. She touched the lives of hundreds, if not thousands, of people and children, and our world is better for having the chance to share in that vibrant life.
Titus Funeral Home is entrusted with Laurie's care. Services will be held at the Owen Family Funeral Home of North Webster, 8056 E. 500 North on Saturday, December 17, 2022. Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Beginning at 3 o'clock family friend, Ken Miller will officiate Laurie's funeral; burial will follow in Mock Cemetery.
