Laurie Ann Necaise, whose life was defined by her deep passion for the outdoors, passed away on September 3, 2025, at the age of 53. She was born on March 24, 1972.
A true steward of the environment, Laurie dedicated her entire career to public service. Her professional journey began with the park service. Later, she transitioned to the U.S. Forest Service, where she held roles across many facets of the organization.
Laurie's lifelong love for animals began in childhood, where she cared for an eclectic array of pets—ranging from snails and snakes, cats, rats and birds, and especially her beloved dogs. Beyond her professional life, Laurie deeply loved the peace and quiet of nature. An avid enthusiast of hiking and adventures, she often found solace on trails and dreamed of travelling the world. Her spirit was one of curiosity and boundless appreciation for life. She always sought to live in harmony with the natural cycles of the Earth and found deep meaning in celebrating the changing seasons.
Her commitment to the outdoors, and animals was more than a profession; it was a deep-seated passion that enriched her life and the lives of those she worked and volunteered with and served.
Laurie is survived by her parents, Charles and Ann Necaise, and her sister, Allison Necaise Wright. She also leaves behind her cherished niece and nephews, Zachary, Zoe, Zander and Zane Necaise and Scout and Brandon Wright.
She was preceded in death by her beloved brother, Michael Necaise.
