The world has lost a great soul. We often hear those words expressed about people when they die, but for Lavada they hold true. Lavada showed me how to treat others by the way she treated me. No matter when I showed up at her home, she welcomed me, invited me to have something to eat, and made me feel as if no one else mattered at that moment. She loved her family, which was obvious when she spoke about years of rearing her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. As I listened, I heard the pride in her voice for each of them. I will miss her, but I know she is enjoying eternity with her Savior, her husband, and the many loved ones who have left this earth and are now in God's presence.

I first met Lavada when I was an X-ray runner at Central Indiana Orthopedics. She is the sweetest lady, she would always look for me when she came in for her appointment and I would get excited when I saw her name. I went straight to her every time. My coworkers knew she was my favorite and I would talk to her the whole time she was there. Her husband Carl would come with her and they were just the nicest people I've ever met. It's like I've known them my whole life. She talked to me when my dad passed away and she was excited for my wedding. I showed her pictures and she even saw pictures of my son. She was the grandma I never had. Once she got better she didn't have appointments anymore and I got sad. She gave me her phone number and I always wanted to call but I didn't. I regret not calling her and going to see her. I think about her often. Prayers to everyone who knew her, she is a wonderful woman. She will be missed everyday. I hope her and my dad met and become friends in heaven.

Lavada, I just want you to know what an amazing person your daughter, Dara, is. She's kind, thougtful, very funny, and the best neighbor in the world! She loves you, and will miss you, but don't worry about her. We are right across the street...
