LaVar Christian Rasmussen

1932 - 2025

LaVar Christian Rasmussen was born April 23, 1932 in Smithfield, Utah to Alfred George and Emma Mildred Hope Rasmussen. He was raised in the Smithfield 3rd Ward and graduated from North Cache High School in 1950. He married the love of his life, JoAnne Hall in 1952 in the Logan Temple.

LaVar and JoAnne were blessed with three sons and one daughter: Keith (Jan) Rasmussen Chester, OK; Paul (Marilyn) Rasmussen South Ogden, UT; Lee (Sandy) Rasmussen Collinsville, OK and Connie (Rick) Pitcher, Wasilla, AK. His posterity includes 16 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. He was a Firefighter with Logan City and a Painting Contractor for over 50 years. He served as a Horse 4H Leader for 9 years and was a positive role model for the youth.

During his life, LaVar enjoyed time with friends and family gardening, fishing, hunting, horseback riding, snowmobiling and riding ATV's. Most of all, he cherished time with his wife and family and loved to see them excel in worthwhile activities.

He lived 61 years in River Heights where he served for four years on the town council and the local Lions Club International. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in numerous callings including five years as an officiator in the Logan Temple. One of his happiest times was serving a mission in Nauvoo, Illinois with his wife JoAnne.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, JoAnne Hall, brother George W (Beth) Rasmussen and sister Janice (Lloyd) Lenhart, grandson Dalton Rasmussen and great-granddaughter Quinn Goldhardt.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Jan. 5th at Allen-Hall Mortuary at 2pm with a viewing held prior from 12:30-1:30pm. Interment to follow at Providence Cemetery. The funeral service will be livestreamed and can be viewed via LaVar's obituary page on www.allenmortuaries.com.
