January 31, 1936 - December 24, 2025
Laverne Herbert "Verne" Lemke, 89, of Lynchburg, passed away on December 24, 2025.
He is survived by two daughters, Karen (Matthew) Burns, Katherine Lemke; a son, Sandy Gowen and a daughter-in-law, Wanda Leftwich.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Claire Kamalski Lemke; two sons, David Lemke, Randy Leftwich; significant other, Diane Gowen and a sister and her husband, Cecelia and Robert Wolfe.
He was retired from Aerofin Corporation after 33 years and then worked for Enterprise Car Rental for 17 years. He was a fan of the Seattle Seahawks and loved animals.
A graveside funeral service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 2, 2026 in Spring Hill Cemetery. Family and friends are welcome to attend the service.
In lieu of flowers, please consider Lynchburg Humane Society or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
