Laversa Michelle Thomas was born in Northampton County, Virginia to Adele Green and Harold Johnson.
She was lovingly nurtured by her grandmother, Laversa G. Taylor, affectionately known as “Big Mama” whose influence remained a guiding light throughout her life.
Laversa cherished her roots and held a deep love for Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. As well as everyone who knew her could see her love for the Philadelphia Eagle Football Team. After completing her schooling, she relocated to Killeen, Texas, where she met and married Marshall Glen Thomas.
As a woman of faith and dedication, Laversa loved her church and her church family, Eighth Street Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor M. T. Bennett.
She served faithfully and consistently until her health began to decline, limiting her ability to attend services regularly. Even then, her heart and commitment to the church never wavered.
Laversa was also an active member of the ESBC Praise Team Ministry, where she joyfully used her voice to glorify God. Committed to personal growth and service, Laversa continued her education at Vista College, where she prepared for a career dedicated to helping others.
She was employed at the Central Texas Veterans Health Care System, a place she truly loved. Laversa took great pride in serving veterans and valued the relationships she built with her coworkers, whom she respected deeply and considered extended family.
Laversa Michelle Thomas leaves to cherish her loving memory: Her husband, Marshall Glen Thomas. Her beloved sons, Marshall Glen Thomas II, United States Navy; Norfolk Naval Base and Centwane “CJ” Hopson, Temple, Texas. Her loving aunt, Frieda Vagieso of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her dear brothers, Juevon T. Green, Arlington Texas and Darnell Bushby and Maurice Warren, both of Baltimore, Maryland.
Laversa will be remembered for her faith, love, service to others, and the gentle strength with which she touched every life she encountered. Fly Eagle Fly
