LaVon L. Mason, 94, of Grand Island passed away on Monday, November 17, 2025, at Central Nebraska Veteran's Home in Kearney.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at All Faiths Funeral Home with livestreaming at www.giallfaiths.com. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service time. Dan Naranjo will officiate. Graveside services will take place in Litchfield Cemetery at 10 a.m. on Monday. Memorials are suggested to Special Olympics or Camp High Hopes in Sioux City, IA.

LaVon was born on Oct 14, 1931 in Rockville, NE, daughter of Elmer and Alice (Stickney) Heisner. LaVon and her family moved often while she was in grade school, in 1949 she graduated from Litchfield High School.

On March 4, 1951, LaVon married Don Mason, they made their home in Sargent. LaVon was employed at the nursing home in Sargent as a supervisor in the dietary department. She loved to care for children; she was a teacher's aid for many years and babysat for the local families in Sargent. LaVon was proud to have taught at the country school near Litchfield as well.

LaVon was hardworking and kept a neat and clean home. She was always busy and ran a tight ship with all the neighborhood children she cared for. LaVon grew a beautiful garden full of vegetables and flowers with the help of her children. She loved to make intricate meals and cakes, planning every step. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend.

She is survived by her children, Konnie Bartley of Malvern, IA, and Scott Mason of Grand Island; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren; sister, Elaine Anderson of Lincoln; along with numerous extended family and friends.

LaVon was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant son, Randy; son-in-law, Dennis; daughter -in-law, Glenda; brother, Larry and sister, Janice.
