JONESBORO - Lavonda Sue Snyder, of Jonesboro, departed this life on Sunday, May 23, 2021, at the age of 71.
She was born Sept. 14, 1949, to the late Jim and Anna Fay Pillows. In addition to her parents, Lavonda was preceded in death by her brother Billy Cude of Cave City, and sister-in-law Thelma Pillows of Jonesboro.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, William Marvin Snyder of the home; one son, Kevin (Rebekah) Snyder and granddaughter Josie Snyder, of Jonesboro; one brother, Glen Pillows of Jonesboro; two sisters, Mary (Pat) Glover of Conway, Melinda (Bill) Mize of Conway; and one sister-in-law, Rita Cude of Cave City.
Lavonda was an independent businesswoman her whole life, working as a hairdresser for close to 45 years. She loved her clients and the ladies she worked with like they were her family.
When not in her hairstyling booth, she worked joyfully with God as a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, serving as church historian and faithful follower of Christ. She also enjoyed spending time outside, working in her yard and flower beds and had a crafty knack for turning something old into something new.
Lavonda was always busy working, making or creating, but when she wasn't, she loved traveling all over the country with Marvin. She had a special love of beaches and enjoyed staying beautifully tanned. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Lavonda spent countless hours making fun crafts with Josie as well as taking her on mini adventures to parks, plays and musicals. Lavonda will be missed by many, for she had a spirit that shined bright, and she shared love and laughter everywhere she went.
Friends may visit Emerson Funeral Home, 1629 E. Nettleton Ave., Jonesboro 72401, Thursday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. to share memories of Lavonda. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday with the Rev. Jim Stillwell officiating, also at Emerson Funeral Home.
