Mrs. Lavonne Roberts Sanford, age 88 of Calhoun, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, August 2nd, 2025 at a local assisted living facility.

Mrs. Sanford was born in Hilt, California on January 17th, 1937 to the late Lloyd Eldon Roberts and the late Grace Mae Sweeney Roberts. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, L.H Sanford. Mrs. Sanford was a dedicated and compassionate nurse who found great joy in her career, serving others with her gentle heart and a kind smile. She retired as the Director of Nursing at Cherokee Healthcare after many years of faithful service. A woman of strong faith, she was a lifelong member of Smyrna Baptist Church and, more recently, attended NorthPointe Baptist Church in Adairsville. Her devotion to her church was evident through her years of service as a Sunday School teacher, her support of missions, and her involvement in every opportunity to serve. Mrs. Sanford cherished time with her family and created lasting memories—especially during the holiday season—by baking cookies, making hot chocolate, and bringing her loved ones together to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas. She lived a life full of love, purpose, and joy, and her greatest treasures were her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her two sons, Jerry Waldrop (April) and Benjamin Waldrop (Jennifer); three daughters, Katherine Payne (Reggie), Barbara Waldrop, and Bonnie Williams (Dan); her twin sister, Yvonne Shouse; nine grandchildren, Laura Rogers (Randall), Mindi Estevez (Tony), Elijah Lamaster, Katy Williams, Emily Massingill (Mitchell), Nathan Waldrop, Monica Waldrop, Buck Rodgers (Brittany), and MaryAnn Rodgers; twelve great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday August 8th, 2025 at 2 PM in the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. George Gray officiating. Interment will follow in Gordon Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 8th from 12 PM until 2 PM at the funeral home.
