LaWanda Jo Sites of Elkton, passed away Saturday, October 25, 2025 at UVA Hospital, after a decline in health over the past 2 years. She was born October 23, 1952 to the late Herman (Jobby) and Evelyn Clem Dofflemyer.
Along with her parents, Jo was preceded in death by her son, Matthew Wayne Seal; grandson, Eric Wayne Knight; and sister-in-law, Robin Barlow.
She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Wade Sites; stepdaughters, Jennifer Butzler (Chris) and Ashley Sites; granddaughters, Jaylynn Sites, Gracie Butzler, Jadyn Seal Bly and Samantha Seal Bly; grandsons, Aaron Weaver, Steven Weaver and Levi Butzler. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Matthew Sites (Leslie); sisters-in-law, Leslie Miller, Erin Golden (Bill) and Danielle Sites (Charlie); aunt, Meredith Radley; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jo retired from Rockingham County Schools after 27 years, working at Montevideo Middle School, Elkton Elementary School and Massanutten Vo-Tech. She then went to work for WVPT (now VPM) in Harrisonburg, retiring from there in 2024.
A Celebration of Life will be held 4 p.m., Saturday, November 1, 2025 at Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton Donnie Jenkins and Rev. David Clinedinst officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
Burial will be private at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Jo's honor to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
