Lawrence “Larry” Ainslie, 74, of Newport, passed away Sunday, June 23, 2024, at his home.
A memorial service to honor Larry’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 6th at Munden Funeral Home with full military honors, officiated by Chaplin Rick Brooks. The interment will be at Arlington Cemetery at a later date.
Larry was born on July 9, 1949, in Monterrey, Mexico, to the late Jose Juan Ainslie Gonzalez and Leona Ainslie Gonzalez. He proudly served his country for 29 years as an aircraft mechanic in the United States Army. His military career was marked by distinguished service in Vietnam, Desert Storm in Iraq, and Afghanistan. Throughout his service, he received numerous commendations and medals, reflecting his bravery, dedication, and expertise.
Outside of his military career, Larry was known for his love of cars, especially his cherished red Corvette. His passion for cars was only matched by his skills as a handyman. There wasn’t a problem he couldn’t fix, and he took great pride in helping friends and family. He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
Those remaining to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Jane Ainslie of the home; daughter, Tracey Jaloma (Henry) of Tucson, Arizona; son, Joe Ainslie of Newport; sisters, Carolyn Weist (Gene) of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, Nancy Ainslie Villareal of Monterrey, Mexico; brothers, Raul Ainslie of Houston, Texas, Luis Ainslie of Mexico; grandchildren, Anisha, Shanie, Raqaelle, Natalia, Ares, and Levi; step-sons, David McCubbin, Matthew Weinberg, and Joe Vasaturo; and his comrades of over 50 years, David Dollar and Dave Sellnow.
In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his brothers, Jose Ainslie, William Ainslie, and Charles Ainslie.
