Lawrence Davis Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cobb Funeral Home - South Bend on Feb. 24, 2026.
Lawrence Edward Davis, lovingly known as "Auggie," passed away on January 23, 2026, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, at the age of 64. Born on March 12, 1962, in West Memphis, Arkansas, Lawrence brought joy and warmth to all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A proud graduate of Riley High School, Lawrence was a man of many passions and talents. He found immense joy in cooking and grilling, often bringing people together over delicious meals. A sports enthusiast, he loved football, wrestling, and basketball. His vibrant personality shone through his love for dancing and karaoke, where his laughter and energy were infectious. Above all else, Lawrence cherished spending time with his family and engaging in activities that strengthened their bond.

Lawrence was a man of faith who worshipped in the Baptist tradition. His life was guided by kindness and generosity. Known for his genuine nature and warm spirit, he had a way of making everyone feel welcome. His favorite sayings-"Show Me Some Love" or "Peace, Love, and Happiness"-captured the essence of his outlook on life. Whether offering the shirt off his back or lending a helping hand wherever it was needed, Lawrence embodied selflessness and compassion.

He is survived by his loving mother Willma Miller; his sister Debbie Wyche; his children Dianeka Davis, Deangelo Davis, and Zia Davis; as well as his cherished Aunts Viola King and Catherine Foster and Uncle Odel Davis. He also leaves behind a significant other Leslie (Smokey) Tolbert. Lawrence's memory will also live on through countless family members and friends who were touched by his kindness. He is preceded in death by his Grandmother Lucille Davis; Aunts Earnestine Harmon, Earthabell Cummings, Diane Foster, and Pearlie Mae; Granddaughter Laniah Underwood; and Son Merlyn Davis (affectionately known as "Big Man"). Lawrence's legacy is one of love, laughter, and unwavering generosity. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him but fondly remembered for the joy he brought into their lives. May his memory bring comfort to those who mourn him. Peace, love, and happiness-words that defined Lawrence's life-will continue to resonate with those he leaves behind.
