Lawrence E. Dutcher
June 1, 1943 - October 15, 2025
Technical Sergeant (Ret.) Lawrence E. Dutcher, age 82, passed away peacefully
on October 15, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with health challenges.
Born on June 1, 1943, in Pennsylvania, Lawrence lived a rich and meaningful life
characterized by dedication, love, and unwavering service. A proud veteran of
the United States Air Force, he honorably served his country as a Technical Sergeant
for over 20 years. His distinguished military career saw him excel as a jet
engine mechanic and include deployments in Vietnam, Korea, Thailand, and England.
Throughout his service, Lawrence earned numerous awards and accolades,
reflecting his technical expertise, outstanding performance, and steadfast
commitment to excellence. He was respected and admired by all who had the privilege to know him.
Following his military service, Lawrence settled in New York before relocating
to South Carolina, where he embraced retirement, surrounded by family and friends.
He cherished his time spent traveling with his beloved wife and family, tinkering with
various vehicles, and enjoying leisurely fishing trips, darts, and pool games.
Lawrence's happiest moments were often spent building, sharing stories, or
creating lasting memories with his loved ones.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 28 years, Donala Dutcher, as well as his
step-children Virginia Meyer (Gary), John M. Lloyd (Cori), Tina Turner, and
Orion Cozene (Jennifer), alongside his children Dennis Dutcher, Becky Nemitz,
and Theresa Dutcher. He was preceded in death by his step-son Kenneth Lloyd Jr. (Rebecca).
Together, Lawrence and Donala fostered a large, loving family that includes 21 grandchildren,
28 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. He also leaves behind his
devoted dogs, Lucy and Mae Mae, who brought him boundless joy and companionship.
Those who knew Lawrence will forever remember his strength, humor, craftsmanship,
and profound love for his family and country. His legacy of perseverance, kindness,
and devotion will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who loved him.
A private family service will take place at a later date to honor his life and military
service, and he will be laid to rest with full military honors. The family extends their
heartfelt gratitude to the United States Air Force for recognizing his dedicated service
and numerous achievements in defense of our nation.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lawrence's memory to
Thurston Schramm Reynolds VFW Post 8137, Erie Street, Montezuma,
New York 13117 - a place that honors the spirit of service and camaraderie that Lawrence valued deeply.
