Lawrence Edward Gianangeli, 81, of Shadyside, Ohio passed away peacefully at his residence in Shadyside, Ohio, on October 26, 2025

He was born November 21, 1943 in Bellaire, Ohio a son of the late Lawrence John and Eileen (Davis) Gianangeli.

A man of integrity and dedication, Lawrence lived a life filled with service, passion, and love for those around him.

Lawrence proudly served his country as a Master Sergeant with the United States Army, dedicating 21 years of his life to the noble cause of protecting and serving with honor and distinction. During his decorated military career, he was awarded the Military Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal, alongside the Gold Recruiter Badge. His leadership and commitment were an inspiration to all who served alongside him.

After retiring from the Army, Lawrence continued his dedication to public service by working with Belmont County Jobs and Family Services until his retirement. His work touched countless lives and reflected his unwavering commitment to supporting and uplifting his community.

Lawrence had an adventurous spirit and a zest for life that was evident in his many interests. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, finding peace and joy in the great outdoors. A passionate fan of NASCAR and The Ohio State Buckeyes, Lawrence enjoyed cheering on his favorite teams and sharing these moments with family and friends. Above all, he cherished time spent with his loved ones especially his wife, Joyce, their faithful companion, Lacey.

His sense of camaraderie extended beyond family and friends into his involvement with various organizations. Lawrence was a proud member of American Legion Post 52, VFW Post 626, and the Sons of Italy, all in Bellaire, where he forged lasting friendships and made significant contributions to the community.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Lancione.

He is survived by his cherished wife, Joyce (Ace) Gianangeli of Shadyside, Ohio; children, Sherri (Hugo) Samudio of Tampa, Florida, Lawrence E. (Leila) Gianangeli of Boynton Beach, Florida, Michael A. (Tonya) Gianangeli of Weirton, West Virginia, Daniel S. (Terri) Cooper of Taylorsville, Kentucky, Jerry L. (Bre) Gianangeli of Bellaire, Ohio, Shelley L. (Brian) Schramm of Shadyside, Ohio; siblings, Margaret (Greg) Bizzarri of Columbus, Ohio, Richard (Susan) Gianangeli of Bellaire, Ohio, Sharon (Ty) Fleming of Sun City, South Carolina; brother-in-law Rich Lancione of Hilton Head, South Carolina; 17 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and many special family and friends.

Lawrence's life was a testament to service, loyalty, and love. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him and in the stories of a life well-lived. He will be remembered as a brave soldier, a dedicated worker, a loyal friend, and a loving family man whose spirit will continue to inspire all who had the privilege to know him.
