Lawrence G. Goldberg

With the heaviest of hearts, we share the passing of the center of our world, Larry Goldberg. Larry was a loving and doting husband for 61 years to his sweetheart and the love of his life, Cathy Goldberg (nee Lynch); the most amazing and dependable father to Karen Goldberg Benedetto (Bob), and Lauren Goldberg Sutton (Rob); and the most fun and supportive grandfather, aka "Grandpop Sarge", to Kiersten Scargill Graves (Vince), Kerri Scargill, Adam Sutton, and Riley Sutton. Bruce Graves and Vivienne Graves brought such bright light and joy as his great-grandchildren.
Lawrence Gerson Goldberg was born on February 11, 1941, to Frances (nee Pitchman) and David Goldberg, in Philadelphia, PA. Larry was born seven minutes after his identical twin brother, and instant lifelong best friend, Danny. They grew up together with their big sister, Arlene, in a house filled with lots of family and love.
Larry was extremely passionate about his family, the United States Army, and his beloved Oakland A's baseball team. Ever the organizer and dedicated civil servant, Larry spent many years volunteering with the Lions Club and The Special Olympics. In his later years, Larry was the Co-Social Chairperson for his neighborhood clubhouse, establishing new activities and social events for the growing community.
Sarge retired from the US Army after 31 years as a Master Sergeant. During Larry's Army career, he served overseas during the first Persian Gulf War, in Operation Desert Shield/Storm. Larry also worked in his civilian life as a Sales/Business Operations Manager for Segal International, and then later as a Regional Salesperson for Toppers Inc.
Larry was one of a kind, down to Earth, made us all laugh and was adored by all who knew him.
Relatives and friends are invited Wednesday, November 5, 2025 beginning 9:30 am to Platt Memorial Chapels, Inc. 2001 Berlin Road, Cherry Hill, NJ where funeral services will begin promptly at 10:00 am. The service will also be live streamed on plattmemorial.com. Scroll down to view the live stream.
Interment with military honors will follow at the Gloucester County Veterans Cemetery, Monroe, NJ.
