Lawrence Graves Obituary

Published by Legacy on Feb. 21, 2026.
Lawrence Paul Graves, a cherished husband, father, brother, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2026, in Westminster, Maryland, at the age of 73. Born on August 29, 1952, in Washington D.C., Lawrence, known affectionately as Larry to those close to him, was a man whose life was marked by unwavering dedication to his family, friends, and community.

Larry is survived by his loving spouse of 52 years, Donna Graves, and their children: Jennifer Brooks, Heather McCabe and her husband Clay, and Michael Graves and his wife Jamie. He was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren, Luke, Ryan, Ella, Macy, Mason, Anderson, and one great-grandchild, Eli. His legacy of love and guidance will be carried on through them. He will also be deeply missed by his siblings Leo and his wife Donna; Kathleen Levesque and her husband Cliff; Gail Bouffard and her husband Charlie; Patrick and his wife Cathy. Larry also leaves behind several loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

Larry's career spanned over four decades with Safeway, where he worked in various locations within Prince George's and Carroll Counties. He started as an enthusiastic employee and, through hard work and dedication, rose to become a respected retail manager. He retired in 2019 after 46 years of service, leaving behind a legacy of leadership and commitment to excellence.

After his retirement, Larry devoted his time to his wife, Donna, and enjoyed many cherished moments together. His faith as a Catholic was a cornerstone of his life, providing him with strength and comfort throughout his years.

Larry played golf when he could, and enjoyed many other sports. He was a lifelong fan of the Orioles and the Washington Redskins, and his passion for sports was only matched by his love for fishing. Larry's happiest times were perhaps those spent on annual trips to the Outer Banks with his family at their favorite place "Footprints in the Sand". There, he relished in the simple joys of flying kites and building sandcastles with his children and grandchildren, creating lasting memories on the beach.

Those who knew Larry will remember him as a loving and faith-filled man, whose spirited nature and generous heart left a lasting impression on all. His unwavering commitment to his family, his kindness, and his infectious smile will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Lawrence Paul Graves lived a life full of love, laughter, and devout service to those around him. As we mourn his passing, we also celebrate the remarkable life he led and the countless ways in which he enriched our lives. He will be fondly remembered as a pillar of his family, a loyal friend, and a man of great character and warmth. Rest in peace, dear Lawrence, until we meet again.

A memorial visitation will be held at Haight Funeral Home and Chapel on Thursday, March 12, 2026, from 11 AM - 1 PM. A Catholic Prayer Service will follow at 1PM.

In lieu of flowers those desiring may make a donation to the Bridging Life Hospice of Carroll County.
