Lawrence Truman McDaniel was born on May 3, 1926, in Yantis, TX and passed away peacefully on December 29, 2025, at the age of 99 in Gilmer, Texas.
Truman proudly served in the U.S. Navy, where he developed a strong sense of duty and commitment that would carry him throughout his life. After his military service, he had a fulfilling career as a foreman at Swepco, dedicating many years to the company before his well-deserved retirement.
Truman is survived by his wife, Betty McDaniel of Gilmer; son, Dr. Randy McDaniel and wife Jill of Gilmer; 4 grandchildren, Anna Conlan and husband Pat, Dr. Adam McDaniel and wife Jennifer, Clay McDaniel and wife Jennifer, Lacey Lynch, along with 10 great grandchildren; stepson, Mike McClure; stepdaughter, Paula Altenbamer and husband Perry and numerous step grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Truman is preceded in death by his parents, Henry Lawrence McDaniel and Bessie Pence McDaniel; his first wife, Effie McDaniel; son, Mike McDaniel; stepsister, Irene Chumley.
A graveside service will take place on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at 11:00 AM, at Sunset Memorial Park in Gilmer, Texas with Bro. Clay Potter officiating.
