Lawrence Lee Nutz Sr. was born on February 25, 1935 in
Lincoln, Nebraska to Walter and Bertha (Sedam) Nutz. He passed away Sunday, December 25, 2022, at Filmore County Hospital in Geneva, Nebraska at the age of 87 years and 10 months.
Lawrence graduated from Morrowville High School in Morrowville, Kansas. He served in the U.S. Army from April 22, 1957 until being Honorably Discharged on January 28, 1960. Lawrence married Joyce J. Lemmon on June 12, 1960, in Fairbury, Nebraska and 4 children were born to this union: Larry, Randy, Joanna, and Matthew. Lawrence and Joyce Moved to Fairmont in 1967, and he worked with livestock and agriculture for most of his life.
Lawrence enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family. He like to play cards games and enjoyed spending time with friends at the Fairmont Senior Center. Lawrence spent the last five years at Fairview Manor. He will be remembered for teasing staff and residents.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law Orval and Beulah Lemmon; wife Joyce J. Nutz; siblings Walter Edward Nutz, Charles David Nutz, Mabel Comstock, Jerry Nutz, Ruth Pralle, and Patty Enslinger.
He is survived by his children and their spouses Lawrence "Larry" & Valeri Nutz of
Hastings, Nebraska, Randy & Connie Nutz of Grand Island, Nebraska, Joanna & Chris Brandenburgh of Bellwood, Nebraska, and Matthew & Julie Nutz of
Panama City Beach, Florida; grandchildren & their spouses Lacey & Andrew Remillard, Leesville, Lousiana, Clint & Celeste Brandenburgh of David City, Nebraska, Crystal & Jason Kloepper of Doniphan, Nebraska, Brandi & Shane Hubl of
Hastings, Nebraska, Sarah Nutz of
Hastings, Nebraska, and Jacob Nutz of
Hastings, Nebraska; Great-Grandchildren, KayLee Hood, Tucker Hood, Elouise Brandenburgh, Zaiden Nutz, Kade Kloepper, Kolt Kloepper, Charli Hubl, Ben Hubl; siblings Bonnie Elliott, Wanda Henderson, Linda Falk, Wayne Nutz, Leila Zenger; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Funeral Service for Lawrence was held on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at the Fairmont Community Church. Pastor Monica Magoola presided over the Funeral Service. The recorded selections "Amazing Grace," "Scars In Heaven," and "Go Rest High On That Mountain" were played during the Funeral Service.
Pallbearers included Jacob Nutz, Clint Brandenburgh, Shane Hubl, Jason Kloepper, Ron Nutz, and Andy Zenger. Honorary pallbearers included Lacey Remillard, Crystal Kloepper, Brandi Hubl, Sarah Nutz, Pam Bierman, and Carol Wallin.
A Graveside Service with Military Honors was held in the Fairbury Cemetery on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. Military Honors were provided by the Fairbury VFW Post 3113, the Fairbury American Legion Post 24, and the Nebraska Military Honor Guard.
