Lawrence P. Overby Sr.

1946 - 2022

Lawrence Parker Overby, Sr., Larry, Big Larry, Pops, Uncle Larry, Grandpop, was born on April 24, 1946 to the late Lloyd L. Ward (Ernestine) and Ruth Parker (Robert Overby) in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Larry graduated from Atlantic City High School and enlisted in the US Military.
Larry had a great love for music. You could always find him playing his records and listening to Motown, especially the Temptations. He loved cooking his specialty dishes, including shrimp salad, fried turkey, ribs and wings. He enjoyed spending time at the black jack table, playing in various fantasy sports leagues, and was an avid bowler and dedicated New York Giants and New York Mets fan.
Larry married Mosezetta Bailey in 1969. They moved to New York and had three young men; Lawrence, Jr. (Tonya) of Connecticut, Maurice of Georgia and Lance of Massachusetts. He cherished his grandchildren; Diamond, Amelia, Jakob, Marcus, and Maurice; and great granddaughter, Zora. Larry is survived by his sisters, Cecelia "Cece" Bailey (Bucky) and Diana "Di" Ward; many nieces and nephews, and countless close friends that he considered family. He was predeceased by his brothers, Styles Overby and Lloyd Ward.
Larry was employed by Irving Trust Bank in New York and then Browning Ferris Industries, which resulted in his relocation to Atlanta, Georgia where he resided for 33 years before coming back home in 2020 to his final resting place in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
