Lawrence Perez Obituary
SCHODACK - Lawrence "Larry" J. Perez Jr., age 34, passed away at home on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, after a long illness.
Born in Troy, Larry was the beloved son of Lawrence J. and Sharon R. (Hirsch) Perez. He was a graduate of Averill Park High School and went on to earn his Bachelor's Degree from the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam, followed by a Master's Degree from The College of Saint Rose.
Larry's music career began at the age of five, through lessons with Joe Adee. He continued to share his love of music with countless students as the music teacher at Green Meadow Elementary School. Before beginning his teaching career, Larry worked at the Hollywood Drive-In, where he created many fond memories.
Larry found great joy in attending concerts, especially those of the Dave Matthews Band. Outside the classroom, he loved playing tennis, riding roller coasters, and snowboarding. Larry's zest for life and kind heart touched everyone who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Larry is survived by his loving sister, Nicole (David) Giannetti; his cherished nephew and niece, Liam and Gianna Giannetti; his godfather, Robert Perez; and his partner, Adam J. DiDio; and their canine companion, Rue Paw. He also leaves many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins, with whom he shared many memories.
Larry is predeceased by his paternal grandparents, James and Patricia (McDonald) Perez; maternal grandparents, Philip J. Hirsch and Rosemary (Spencer) Childs (Robert J. Childs Sr.); as well as his aunts, Noreen Morris; and his godmother, Donna Roy.
Family and friends are invited to visit with Larry's family on Sunday, November 2, 2025, from 12 to 3 p.m.

We were so saddened to hear of Mr. Perez´s passing. He was our music teacher at Green Meadow and always brought such joy and positivity to his students. They remember him fondly for his warmth, enthusiasm, and love of music. Gone too soon - he will be greatly missed.

Dear Sharon and family, I am so very sorry for the loss of Larry. He was a really special young man who we all could be so very proud of in every regard. Not only a wonderful graduate of AP but he also graduated from my Alma Mater SUNY Potsdam. Mr. Perez was my music teacher for basically all of my elementary school years. He had helped me through my musical journey. He had supported me through everything. I play Panio, Ukulele, Guitar, and Percussion, and I used to play Trumpet. He also helped me out vocally as a great chorus teacher. I am very grateful for all that he has taught me, and I wish I had said that before he passed. I will miss him greatly. RIP, Mr. Perez, you were a wonderful teacher. :)
