Lawrence Joseph (Larry Joe) Stallbaumer, 79, of Corning passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at the Gardens at Aldersgate in Topeka, Kansas.
Larry Joe was born on March 3, 1945, in Corning to Elmer G and Josephine Rethman Stallbaumer. He attended school in Corning and graduated from Corning High School in 1964.
Larry Joe enlisted in the Kansas National Guard in 1966. He served with the 69th Inf of the United States Army and spent seven months and 26 days in Vietnam, serving as military police. After returning from service, he returned to the family farm northeast of Corning and worked side by side with his father. He retired from farming and remaining on the home place where he was raised.
Larry Joe enjoyed gathering and celebrating with his family, playing cards and just being on his farm, gave him a great peace.
He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Corning, the Arthur Mills Post # 38 of the American Legion and the Seneca Knights of Columbus council 1769.
Larry Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Josephine; his brothers, Galen Stallbaumer and Donald Stallbaumer; his sisters, Patricia Lierz and Darlene Nolte Roeder; and several nieces and nephews.
Larry Joe is survived by a brother, Gerald Stallbaumer of Topeka; his sisters, Jo Ella Ronnebaum of Centralia, Mary Shepherd, Diane McConnaughey and Linda Feldkamp all of Topeka.
A rosary will be prayed at 7 P.M. on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at 10:30 A.M. at the St Patrick's Church in Corning. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Full military honors will be provided by the Arthur Mills Post # 38 of the American Legion; and flag line by the American Legion Riders Post #21.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Patrick's Cemetery and or Elara Caring hospice sent in care of the family.
