   Mr. Lawrence Darrell Toney, age 71 of Mooresboro, NC, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 16, 2023.

   He is survived by his children, Tina Craighead (Blake) of Huntersville, NC, and Tracy Piercey (Richard) of Shelby, NC, four grandchildren, Alexander Leigh, Matthew Yarbro (Kristen), Justin Yarbro, and Jacob Yarbro (Kaylie), a brother, Jerry Toney (Dianne) of Mooresboro, NC, and a special cousin, Linda Shoup.

   Born May 14, 1952, in Cleveland County, NC, Darrell was the son of the late Rev. Lawrence Toney and Reba Mae Ledford Toney.  Darrell was a faithful member of Goodes Grove Baptist Church where he worked on the cemetery committee.  He enjoyed working in his yard, going to car shows, and spending time with his family and friends.  Darrell volunteered at Basics Ministries in Heneretta and a former volunteer rescue squad member in Boiling Springs. 

   A Funeral service will be held at 3:00pm Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at Goodes Grove Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Robert Hensley.  A visitation will be held from 2:00pm – 3:00pm prior to the service at the church.  A burial will follow in the church cemetery.

   In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Goodes Grove Baptist Church, 806 Goodes Grove Church Rd, Mooresboro, NC 28114.
