Lawrence Elden Tooley, known as Larry, from
Lehi, Utah, returned to his Heavenly home on November 7, 2025.
He was born on July 8th, 1942, in Ely, Nevada, to Stanley Tooley & Edith Zufelt Tooley. He was the youngest of four living children, with a younger sister, Wendy, who passed six days after birth.
Larry grew up surrounded by the majestic mountains and rivers of Durango, Colorado, where his adventures took him from one end of this small town to the other. He graduated from high school in 1959 and enlisted in the United States Navy in 1961. He was stationed at Treasure Island in San Francisco, California. He honorably served our country for six years.
He married his first wife, and they had two children: Lori Gale and Paul Norman Tooley. He married his current wife, Georgia A. Newbold, in 1971. Together they raised four children: Nathan, Lori-June, and twins, Julia and Darren.
Shortly after the birth of his twins, he suffered a life-altering accident on the job. That experience led him to share his experience in the published novel I Saw Heaven: A Remarkable Visit to the Spirit World.
He earned a Journeyman Electrician license and worked at Geneva Steel for 22 years. In his 50s, he pursued his dream of owning Rainbow Electric, which he worked at until retirement.
After living in Tennessee for 16 years, he returned to Utah. He was able to be close to his family while living with and being cared for by his daughter, Julia, and her husband, John, for the last two years until his death.
Larry was known for his hard-working ethics and his love for his family. He cherished the knowledge of life beyond the veil and looked forward to reuniting with all those who passed before him. He always said it would be a big party, and he would joyfully dance with those waiting for him. We find peace knowing he is free from the pain he endured daily and is celebrating in heaven.
Thank you to the Hospice staff who took loving care of him-he always looked forward to their visits.
Larry is survived by his wife, Georgia; daughter, Lori Gale Thompson (Patrick); son, Nathan Tooley (Lori Ann); daughter, Lori-June Price (Norman); daughter, Julia Nielsen (John); and son, Darren Tooley (Amanda). His posterity includes 21 grandchildren with 26 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Marie, Lilian, and Wendy, followed by his brother, Chuck (Sonny), and his son, Paul.
Larry brightened everyone he met with his welcoming smile, quick wit, and gratitude for his life. He will be deeply missed and celebrated for his dedication to hard work and compassion for others.
Dad will always be with us. Be free, you're finally home.
