Lawson Ford Obituary
Gerald was born on July 6, 1944, in Greenville, Mississippi. He moved to California as a young man and built a life rooted in hard work, family, and faith. In 1967, he and his beloved wife Stella founded Gerald Ford Trucking and Harvesting, a business that became well-known throughout Kern County for its dedication, honesty, and strong work ethic. Together, they built a lasting legacy in the local farming community, earning the respect and friendship of many over the years.
Beyond his work, Gerald was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family-sharing stories, laughter, and the simple moments that made life meaningful.
Gerald is survived by his loving wife, Stella Ford; his children Tammy Whittington (son-in-law Charlie Whittington) and son Jerry Ford; grandchildren Jessica Whittington-Rogers (husband Derek Rogers), Josh Whittington, Brandi Ford, Samantha Walkley (husband Korie Walkley), Devon Ford, Sara Ford, Angel Tripp (husband Steven Tripp), and Steven Whittington (wife Erica Whittington); and his cherished great-grandchildren Payton, Ashton, Emerson, Zack, Kaylee, Elliana, Westin, Kayden, Connor, Leighton, Brayden, Liam, Hallie, Carter, Aiden, Sylas, Skylar, Emmit, and Elliot.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lawson and Lidia Ford, his brother Clinton Ford, and his grandson Bodie Ford.
Gerald's legacy of hard work, love, and integrity will live on in all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Phyllis Ladeira, Gerald's dedicated caregiver for the past 13 years, for her loving care, compassion, and friendship.
A viewing will be held at Peters Funeral Home in Shafter, California, on Sunday, November 9, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Services will be held at Jesus Saves International Church in Shafter, California, on Monday, November 10, at 12:30 p.m.
A graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Shafter Cemetery, with a reception to follow.
