Layne David Olson, 65, of Ogallala, passed away on August 5, 2023, at the Ogallala Community Hospital.
Layne was born on August 26, 1957, in Ogallala to Carlton David and Carol (Gemmell) Olson. Layne graduated from Brule High School.
Layne set out for a career in construction, which would span many years, many of which were spent remodeling Buckle stores at various malls across the United States. His dedication and craftsmanship left a lasting impact on numerous properties. Layne also spent some time at Ace Hardware in Ogallala before embarking on an independent contracting journey, where he continued to showcase his expertise throughout the local area.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Layne was an avid hunter and fisherman, finding immense joy and fulfillment in the great outdoors. Gardening and landscaping were also among his passions, and he took pride in nurturing his surroundings to create beautiful landscapes.
Layne was preceded in death by his parents, Carlton and Carol Olson, and a brother, Lannie Olson.
Survivors include his wife, Cathy; sons, Brett and Spencer; five grandchildren; his siblings, Lonnie, Lowell, and Linda, along with many other relatives and friends.
A memorial has been established in his memory for later designation. Condolences may be shared at prairiehillsfuneralhome.com.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at 2:00 PM at the Prairie Hills Funeral Home of Ogallala, with Bill Redinger officiating.
