It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of
Lazar Hanna Gorial, who entered eternal rest on
July 22, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on September 21, 1938, in Iraq, to the late Hanna Gorial and Shami Ishak, Lazar lived a full life grounded in love for God and family. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Suad Gorial, whom he dearly missed over the past 13 years. He is survived by his devoted children: Luma Gorial, Olivia Gorial, Samer Gorial, John Gorial, and May (Nathan) Bluestein. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Jeremy (Janel) Gabbara, Shay Gabbara, Tyler Gabbara, Kaylee Gorial, Kiara Gorial, Catalina Gorial, Serafina Bluestein, Josephine Bluestein, and Elijah Bluestein, all of whom were the light of his life. Lazar also cherished his relationships with his siblings, remaining close to them throughout his life. He is survived by his siblings Dr. Yousif Goriel, Edward Gorial, Philip Gorial, Mary Nari, and Vicky Alayoubi, and joins in eternal rest those beloved siblings who passed before him: Goriel (Late Bajara) Goriel, Mansour Gorial, and Mikhail Goriel. A hardworking and principled man, Lazar was formerly a business owner and accountant. He completed military training and college studies in Baghdad, Iraq, before immigrating to the United States in 1972, where he continued building a life of stability and purpose for his beloved family. Over the years, Lazar grew tremendously in the Catholic faith, meticulously studying Sacred Scripture, and demonstrating trust in Jesus and His most holy will. He appreciated the simple pleasures in life, enjoying scenic drives up north, savoring the beautiful Caseville and Port Austin sunsets. His favorite daily pastime was bird-watching over a fresh cup of Turkish coffee.
Remaining active in his later years, he continued to enjoy swimming and working out at the gym. He enjoyed grilling, earning the nickname "Chef Peeps," and in recent years, took pride in picking grape leaves himself (in addition to all the fresh produce) to ensure his family had all the necessary ingredients for making his favorite dish: dolma. His favorite card game was Ranga.
He appreciated the classic voices of Abdel Halim Hafez and Um Kalthoum, and he enjoyed old Hollywood, with favorites such as Spartacus and The Ten Commandments. Lazar's legacy of faith and love of family lives on in his children and grandchildren. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Visitation:

the faithful departed, through the
