Lazaro Muñoz died September 22, 2023 at University of Pennsylvania Medical Center. He was 64.
Lazaro was born in Havana, Cuba, immigrated to Union City, NJ in 1966 and then lived in Staten Island, NY before moving to Basking Ridge, NJ in 2012.
He was an educated man studying at Northeastern University, Rutgers University, Staten Island College and Baruch College (and others) achieving various degrees including a Masters in Computer Science.
Lazaro worked as a technology specialist for FIS in Hoboken, NJ while prior employment included working for Sunguard in Manhattan, NY.
He was a true genius and enjoyed the game of chess, was an amateur radio operator, loved collecting stamps and traveling (including to visit the Amish country). He was an avid reader and was a tech buff. He loved his dogs especially his late Lucky and Teddy. He also enjoyed time tending to his garden.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Muñoz, and stepdaughter, Judy Christilaw, his sisters Marie Santana, Maria and her husband Jose Castillo, and Marisela and her husband Anthony Giordano, and his nieces and nephews Chris Santana, Robert Santana, Jennifer Castillo, Eric Castillo, Vanessa Castillo, Alex Giordano, and Nicholas Giordano.
Visitation will be Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at the Valley Memorial Funeral Home 1012 Valley Rd., Gillette, NJ from 6 - 9 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday September 27, 2023 at 10:00 AM at the Shrine of Saint Joseph 1050 Long Hill Rd, Stirling, NJ.
