Leah Firestone Obituary

Leah A. Firestone, 59, of Scottdale, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 15, 2026, in UPMC Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh, after fighting a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born on Sept. 10, 1966, in Mt. Pleasant, a daughter of the late Daniel and Sara Sanner Worry. Leah was a graduate of Southmoreland High School. Early in her life she was employed at Commercial Stone and later by UPS in New Stanton. She was a member of Mendon Baptist Church. She enjoyed entertaining her family by having large gatherings and picnics. She always wanted everyone to be together; coming from such a large family, that was a priority of hers. She was always there to help anyone in need, from giving them basic necessities to a place to stay. She loved to travel with her family. She was always up for a good adventure. She was an avid Disney lover. She loved having game nights with her family and watching game shows on TV, especially Jeopardy, while getting 99% of the questions correct. She was a trivia expert! She adored her beloved family dog, Ted. Her biggest regret was not being able to watch Elizabeth graduate, get married, and start her own family. She is survived by her husband, Richard L. Firestone; her daughter, Elizabeth Firestone of Scottdale; brothers, Rob Vernon and Shirley of Scottdale, Daniel Vernon of Armbrust, and Ronnie Vernon and his wife, Sue, of Davenport, IA; sisters, Maxine Ewing of Ashland, OH, Patricia Edwards and her husband, Dave, of Iowa, and Vicky Misick of Armbrust, ND; and many close nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a stepdaughter, Ashley Firestone; and sisters, Ruby Stull, Wilma Hollis, Shirley Kreinbrook, Arlene Shultz, and Denise Knopsnider. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday in BROOKS FUNERAL HOME, INC., 111 E. Green St., Connellsville, where services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, with Rev. Gregory Leonard officiating. Interment will follow in the Cochran Cemetery. To offer a condolence or remembrance, please visit www.brooksfuneralhomes.com.
