Leamon Elston Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by S.M. Goodson Funeral Homes and Crematory - Talladega on Jan. 3, 2026.
Born on November 27, 1942, to Macon Elston, Sr. and Roberta Hall Elston, Leamon's life was a tapestry woven with dedication, community spirit, and unwavering love for his family.

Educated in the Calhoun County School System, Leamon proudly graduated from Cobb High School in the Class of 1963. He nurtured his faith at Union Springs Missionary Baptist Church from a young age, holding steadfast as a trustee, past custodian, point of contact for the church cemetery, male chorus member, and served on the usher board. His contributions to the church served as a testament to his steadfast devotion to his spiritual family.

A diligent worker for over 40 years in the textile industry with Mohawk and several other companies, Leamon dedicated his career to improving the lives of those around him until his retirement, when he enjoyed the fruits of his labor. His heart, however, never rested; he remained active in his community, coaching youth baseball, volunteering at Eastside Headstart School, and contributing to the Knoxville Improvement Association.

Leamon was a kind-hearted man, embodying the essence of family. He was united in Holy Matrimony to his soulmate, the former Ms. Sallie Mae Streeter and together they shared 52 years along with their five children. He reveled in watching his grandchildren play sports, cherishing every moment spent with his loved ones.

Mr. Leamon Elston, departed this earthly journey on January 2, 2026, surrounded by the warmth and love of his beloved family in his Talladega, Alabama home. He is now reunited with his wife, Sallie Elston; his beloved son, Daryl Elston; his caring parents, Macon, Sr. and Robert Elston; his brother, Macon Elston, Jr.; two grandsons, D'Anthony Elston and Daryl Elston, Jr.; and daughter-in-law, Brenda Swain Elston. Their spirits shall forever remain intertwined in the memories that echo through the lives he touched.

Mr. Elston is survived by his sons, Erik Elston, Jarvis Elston, and Anthony Elston; daughters, Genice (Roy) Hall and Celeste (Ronald) Elston Calhoun; brother, Charles Elston; daughter-in-law, Antonia N. Elston; and a host grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends who continues his legacy of kindness and service.

As we reflect on Leamon's life, let us carry forward his legacy of being kind, caring, and devoted to family and community, illuminating the paths of those who follow. His spirit will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Leamon's journey was lovingly supported by his devoted caregiver, Ms. Barbara Miller, whose unwavering support provided comfort and strength during this challenging time. We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Talladega City Nutrition Program under the leadership of Director Sandra Beavers, whose staff and volunteers embraced our family with kindness and care, and the Amedysis Hospice Care Team, whose dedication ensured that Leamon felt love and dignity through his final days.
