Leanora Marriott, 84, of Ballinger, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on Sunday, June 29, 2025.
Leanora was born on June 20, 1941, to Delburt Leroy and Nada Minnie Lee (Oberlechner) Marriott in Abilene, Texas. She married Gordon Vernon Moffett at a ceremony in Austin, Tx, and together they shared 22 years of love and fellowship. She was a very intelligent and hardworking woman, earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and she spent more than 14 and a half years working for the US Treasury Department at the IRS office in Austin. Leanora loved music especially if she got the chance to dance the jitterbug, reading, cooking, playing cards or dominoes, gardening, bingo and visiting family and friends. While in Austin, she also spent time teaching jelly-making classes at Austin Community College.
Leanora is preceded in death by her parents Delburt and Nada Marriott, Gordon Vernon Moffett, her daughters Iva Castrajana and Rebecca Guynes, and her sisters Nada Joe and LaVonia Marriott.
She is survived by her children, son Gordon (Lori) Moffett, Brother-in-Law James Guynes, daughter’s Gena (George) Anderson, Lilah Moffett, and Iris (Charles) Fischer. Leanora is also survived by her brother Michael Marriott (Patti) and sister Cheryl Marriott. She was also blessed by her loving grandchildren Tanya David, Gordon Moffett III, Kathleen Moffett (Ryan), Cody (Courtney) Moffett, Tamara Moffett, Karl Moffett, Bryan (Jessica) Guynes, Stephen Guynes, Keisha Burrows, George Anderson, Kevin O’Hare, Aaron O’Hare, Justin Olmeda, Haley Bennight, Torry Bennight, Shay Lindley, and several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held for Leanora on July 12, 2025, at 11:00 am at the Old Runnels Cemetery in Ballinger, Texas with Myron Halford officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of choice, in honor of Leanora.
The family wishes to thank the incredible staff at both Ballinger Healthcare and Rehab and St. Gabriels hospice for their tender love and care.
