Leatha Jean Hale, 88, of Baldwin City, KS died Monday, October 6, 2025 in Baldwin City, Kansas.
She was born June 25, 1937 in Ripley, Oklahoma the daughter of Ralph Jauch and Opal (Stephens) Jauch.
On August 6, 1954 Leatha Jean was united in marriage to Carl Hale in Bakersfield, California. The couple would then move to Stillwater, Oklahoma.
Leatha was a homemaker and worked in Stillwater, Oklahoma with her husband in central heating and plumbing. She would later become a sorority housekeeper at Oklahoma State University.
Her hobbies included working, cleaning her home, going to casinos, cooking, watching OSU football, spending time with her dog Tinkerbell, and going out to eat. Leatha also had a special place in her heart for farming and helped care for pigs, emus, and lamas.
Most of all, Leatha loved being with her family and was an involved and dedicated parent to children in 4-H and Future Farmers of America.
Leatha is best remembered for her strong work ethic.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph Jauch and Opal (Stephens) Jauch; six siblings; her husband, Carl Hale; one son, Monty Hale; and one daughter, Theresa Hale McGuire.
She is survived by her three sisters, Linda Jauch of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Sandra Saye of Ada, Oklahoma, and Jackie Field of Perkins, Oklahoma; two sons, Scott Hale and wife Dana of Edgerton, Kansas and Kevin Hale of Baldwin City, KS; 17 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Couch Park in Stillwater, Oklahoma on Saturday, October 18, 2025 from 1p.m. to 3p.m.
