Leatrice M. Vande Streek, 93, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on April 3, 2020 at St. Francis Home in Fond du Lac. She was born April 3, 1927, a daughter of Clarence and Marcella (Koenen) Maurice.
Lea graduated from LP Goodrich High School in Fond du Lac in 1946. After graduation, she worked as a telephone operator at Damrow Brothers in Fond du Lac. She then began working as nursing aide for 30 years at St. Agnes Hospital.
Lea met the love of her life when he was on leave from the US Navy, serving his country. She was united in marriage to Harrison Vande Streek at St. Louis Catholic Church on October 22, 1949. They celebrated 70 years of marriage this past fall.
Lea was an excellent bowler. She enjoyed golfing and cooking. She was very active at St. Louis Church in many different groups and then became a member of Holy Family Parish. Lea was a proud member of The Homemakers. She spent time volunteering with her husband at Loaves and Fishes. Lea loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren dearly and always had a bowl of tomato soup waiting for them.
Lea will be dearly missed by her husband, Harrison; daughters, Susan (Glen) Van Gheem and Mary (Michael) Kuechler; brother, Jack (Linda) Maurice; brothers-in-law, Wayne (Emma Jean) Vande Streek and Bernard (Doris) Vande Streek; sister-in-law, Gladys Kastein; grandchildren, Chris (Terri) Kuechler, Kim (David) Mateljan, Nicholas Kuechler, Brian (Kathie) Van Gheem, Kevin (Amy) Van Gheem and Steven (Ann) Van Gheem; 19 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Pat Meyer; brothers-in-law, Walter Meyer, Kenneth Kastein, Melvin Ter Beest and Ted Kastein and sisters-in-law, Cynthia Kastein and Eleanor Ter Beest.
SERVICES: A joint celebration of life will be celebrated along side her husband's, Harrison. Saturday, November 8, 2025, a visitation will start at 9:00 AM at the St. Francis Home Chapel, 33 Everett St, Fond du Lac, WI. A Mass will follow the visitation at 10:00 AM.
Lea's family would like to give a special thank you to the St. Francis Home staff and to the hospice staff for the kind and loving care that they gave her.
