Lee Earl Davis passed away peacefully at his home in Smithville, Texas, on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at the age of 61. Born on October 23, 1963, to Billy Davis Jr. and Joyce Ann Thiede, Lee was a lifelong resident of Smithville. He spent his early years hunting, fishing, and helping at his father’s Texaco station, where he developed the strong work ethic that defined his life.
Lee graduated from Smithville High School in 1982 and went on to attend Texas State Technical College in Waco. He spent his career as a heavy equipment manager, earning the respect of many through his dedication and skill.
Lee was a teacher, a provider, and a constant source of strength to his family. Known affectionately as “PopPop” by his grandchildren, he took great pride in sharing his passions of fishing, hunting and gardening. His happiest moments were spent with his family by his side—showing them how to cast a line, till the soil, track a trail, or steer a pickup down a bumpy country road.
Lee is survived by his daughter, Courtney Taylor (Heath) of Marble Falls; his son, Noah Davis of Horseshoe Bay; and his three cherished grandchildren: Landon, Chloe, and Bo.He is preceded in death by his parents, Billy and Joyce Davis, and his brother, Jim Davis.
A memorial service to celebrate Lee’s life will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at The Methodist Church, with a lunch to follow in the fellowship hall. All who knew and loved him are welcome to join in remembrance.
