Lee Filsmyer Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 27, 2025.
Lee Daniel Filsmyer, of Omaha, passed away at his home on Friday, October 24, 2025. He was 58 years old.

The son of Lee Filsmyer and Nadine (McBride) Drake was born on August 8, 1967 in Anadarko, Oklahoma.

Lee was larger than life - and that's saying something, because the man's personality could barely fit in one room. His smile could light up the darkest day, and his one-liners? Let's just say he had a joke ready for every occasion, whether you wanted to hear it or not.

He loved the Lord deeply and lived every day like it was a gift (and sometimes like it came with free refills). Lee was an outstanding Husband, Father, Popi, Son, Brother, and Friend - the kind of man who made everyone feel like family, even if you'd just met him in line at the gas station.

His working career started in the oil fields before becoming a true welding legend for 30+ years in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at Accurate Welding, and later in Omaha, Arkansas, with Southern Boy Welding and Fabrication. His craftsmanship was unmatched - if it could be welded, Lee could make it shine.

And because one talent clearly wasn't enough, Lee also made his mark as a tattoo artist, leaving behind hundreds of living, walking masterpieces. His artistry, both in steel and in ink, was one of a kind - just like him.

When he wasn't working or cracking jokes, you could find him where his heart felt most at home: near the ocean, with a good song playing and the wind in his hair. Music, sailing, and laughter were his companions through every season of life.

Lee lived fully, loved deeply, and left the world brighter (and probably a little louder) than he found it. His legacy - in art, family, faith, and friendship - will live on forever.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Survivors include his wife, Kimberly Filsmyer; one son, Derek Filsmyer and wife, Megan; his mother, Nadine Drake; four grandchildren, Zane Anderson, Emma, Elliott, and Austin Filsmyer; two brothers, Terry Drake and wife, Kadie, and Eric Jarvis and wife, Amanda; one sister, Diana Caddick and husband, Ron; one stepbrother, Alton Jarvis and wife, Brandy; and a host of other family and friends.

No service is planned at this time.
