Lee Michael Greene, 73, passed away on February 6, 2026. Born on December 24, 1952, to Bertram and Sydelle Greene, Lee was the third of four children, growing up first in East Rockaway, Long Island, and later in
New Rochelle, New York. He is survived by his son, Jason; his sisters, Donna and Jodi; his brother, Andy; and many lifelong friends with whom he maintained close relationships.
Named after the character Laurie in Louisa May Alcott's Little Women, Lee carried both charm and spirit from the very beginning. As a boy, he was known for his striking hazel eyes and long eyelashes that teachers and neighborhood mothers never failed to comment on. He roamed Hillanddale Drive with neighborhood friends, watched Superman in the evenings, and formed the early friendships that would define his life.
Lee was fiercely competitive and exceptionally athletic. In high school, he earned a reputation as an outstanding athlete, particularly in baseball, and he carried that competitive fire with him throughout his life. He loved to win-whether on the field, over a chessboard, or in a spirited debate-and he took pride in staying strong and fit. In his later years, he told many, including his doctors, that being able to do 50 push-ups was the true measure of health.
Few friendships endure nearly a lifetime, but Lee's did. He met his friends Scott and Ken at the age of 3 1/2, and for nearly 70 years they shared stories, songs, laughter, and an unbreakable bond. While life took them to different places and they went decades without seeing each other in person, they spoke weekly. On those calls they relived their glory days-Lee would recite childhood phone numbers from memory, sing camp songs, and recount the adventures that shaped them. Lee's loyalty was unwavering; he was the kind of friend who showed up, who stayed connected, and who carried shared history with pride.
Professionally, Lee built a successful career as a salesman in the electrical supply industry. He had a strong work ethic and was regarded for his sharp mind and natural ability with numbers. Some joked that he had a gift for expressing almost any idea in exact percentages and probabilities. Lee relished spirited conversations about markets, politics, and life. While Lee worked almost his entire life, in his latter, semi-retired years, he developed a deep interest in the stock market and bond investing. While he enjoyed trying to "beat the indices," what he truly loved was the camaraderie-using investing as another way to connect, discuss, and stay close to friends and his son.
Lee was generous, often helping those in need quietly. Many would say that he had a heart of gold. He was stubborn at times, but he was also honest, open, and deeply loyal.
Lee's life was marked by intensity, humor, competitiveness, loyalty, and connection. He leaves behind not only memories but a lifetime of shared history with the people who knew and loved him.
His family invites all who knew Lee to share their stories and memories in his honor.
