Lee "Skip" Hazelwood, III was born August 30, 1964, Greenville, Mississippi to Lee, Jr. and Margaret Hazelwood, both preceded him in death.
He was baptized at the age of 12 under the leadership of the late Reverend James M. Dodd, Jr., and served in the choir as a drummer and a Junior Deacon at Damascus Missionary Baptist Church in Chicago, IL.
He attended Fridtjof Nansen Elementary School and was also an enthusiastic baseball player as a member of the Roseland Little League. He would later attend Percy L. Julian High School where he would continue his love of sports as a member of both the baseball and football teams. During his academic studies at Julian, he would also develop an interest in radio and television. Upon graduating from Julian, he attended the University of California, Berkeley where he would continue his post-secondary studies.
Lee worked for several years in the automotive industry, and he also worked as a Funeral Attendant for Minor Morris Funeral Home for over 15 years. In his private time, he was an avid studier and lover of God's word. Lee loved buying and restoring antique cars, was very competitive in cooking and "believed" he was a Master Chef. Skip knew no strangers; he loved to TALK. He was well versed in current events/sports and welcomed a healthy debate at any time.
After returning to Chicago from California in 2009, he joined Outreach Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Pastor James Sims where he served as his adjutant and was faithful until his health failed.
God blessed Skip with a large, beautiful family of his own, his eldest daughter Le'osha, eldest son Lee IV, followed by his third child Shaquille. He was married to Chabecka Goodlow and to this union a daughter Tashnique was born. Lee was married to Philisha Cunningham and to this union two daughters were born Armari, Charm, and a bonus son Camrin. In 2008, Lee was married to Heidi Keen and as result of this union two daughters were born: Heaven, LeeNya and a bonus, son Christopher.
The Lord dispatched his Angels to bring Lee home on Friday, January 12, 2024.
Lee "Skip" Hazelwood leaves to cherish his memory: His daughters: Le'osha, Tashnique, Armari, Charm, Heaven and LeeNya, His sons: Lee IV, Shaquille, Camrin, and Christopher.
