I admired both Lee and Lila! They were our backyard neighbors and close friends! Lee had planted every native Iowa tree in his backyard. His yard was immaculate. He also ventured out to Brody Middle School to plant beautiful trees there, too! What special people!!

Had not seen him for over two years when I was last in Iowa (I live in Montgomery, AL) before COVID. He was 9 years ahead of me in school and always so kind to his little cousin, Johnny--who also followed him a decade later at Iowa State. I was close with his parents--my Uncle Leslie and Aunt Daisy until they passed. God bless his wonderful and sweet wife Lila Jean. What a pair they were.

What a grand gentleman, who made my life richer when I was pastor of DM First. My husband Bill, whom I lost over 2 years ago was particularly fond of Leo, as they shared broadcast experience. I miss DM First and all its great times during my 7 years there.

An inspiration for my entire life. Inspired me to attend ISU JLMC for my degree. Thank you Lee.

I listened to Lee for many years and in many places, and enjoyed two or three warm conversations with him around the time of his retirement from full time broadcasting. With his deep interest in people and their ways of living and working, his ear for conversation and ability to listen, and his unique way of conveying information that was real and folksy and deeply professional all at once, he was an original and truly memorable! My life is richer for having touched his! My condolences to all who knew and loved him. We all were so lucky.

Lee Kline was a true gentleman and the heart of agricultural journalism. His broadcasts were a blueprint for "how to do it right" when I was in Drake´s J-School during the 1970´s. My condolences to Doug and the rest of his family.
