Lee was born October 6, 1950, in Grand Island, NE to Leroy and Janice Power. He attended Gibbon Public Schools and graduated in 1968. Lee married his high school sweetheart Vickie Burr on November 23, 1968. To this union, three children were born: Troy, Chad and Kelli.
Lee and Vickie lived on the Power family farm raising calves, sheep, hogs, potatoes, chickens and geese while also tending vegetable and flower gardens. In 1984 they moved to their home of 40+ years in Gibbon, NE.
Lee was employed in various agriculture related positions over the years. He spent a number of years as an over-the-road truck driver crossing the states from coast-to-coast for Werner Trucking.
Lee spent many happy evenings and weekends watching his kids participate in sports. In later years he enjoyed watching his grandchildren participate in a variety of sports, music, and other activities. He was very proud of his grandchildren and their accomplishments. Lee delighted in working in the yard with Vickie constructing walking paths, seating areas and flower beds. He always enjoyed the annual digging and storing of their various canna bulbs. A true pleasure was a good fire in his backyard fireplace, especially when the fall foliage needed cut back.
God’s beautiful sunsets would captivate him wherever he was. Lee was always on the hunt for the next perfect rock to add to his collection. At any given moment he would have a couple rocks stored in his pocket. Lee was an active member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Gibbon as a trustee, lay-person, adult choir member and choir director.
Lee was preceded in death by his parents Leroy and Janice Power.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Vickie; his children and spouses, Troy and Vikki Power of Lincoln, Chad and Allison Power of Hastings, and Kelli and Craig Safranek of Merna; grandchildren, spouses, and soon-to-be great-grandchildren, Logan Power of Santa Cruz, CA, Ashlyn, Josh and baby Caraway of Fort Worth, TX, Barrett Power of Vermillion, SD, Brielle Power of Lincoln, Landon, Lily and baby Power of Cleveland, OH, Braydon Power of Hastings, Rhett and Zoe (fiancé) Safranek of Lincoln, Shaylyn and Tavis Uhing of Merna.
