She received her early education in Starkville and graduated from high school in Joliet Illinois.

She met and married James A. Quinn, and to this union, one daughter was born.

She relocated to Akron Ohio in 1967. Upon relocating she joined the United Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. Billy Robinson and served under the pastorates of Rev. Roderick C. She was also one of the church leaders serving on the Deaconess Board for decades.

In Mississippi, Edna worked for Dr. Feddy Eckford at the Eckford Clinic, and during her time there she received nurse’s training from Dr. Feddy Eckford. After moving to Akron, she worked as a nurse’s aide until she began working at Chrysler. She retired from the Chrysler Stamping Plant in Twinsburg after 20 years of service as a spot welder.

Edna loved to cook and invite family and friends over for dinner. She would keep them laughing while telling jokes. She loved and collected butterflies and All of God’s Children figurines.

She was preceded in death by her parents Claude L. Sudduth and Doretha (Dorothy) Mackay; husband, James A. Quinn; brothers, Robert Sudduth, Lee K. Evans, Oscar L. Sudduth, and Rexford K. Evans; sisters, Adell B. Davis, Berlean Lathan, and Eloise Yates.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Jeannie M. (John) Wilson, of Akron; sisters, Natalie Turneur, Peggy Bowen, of Akron and Shirley Stoner, of Copley Ohio; grandchildren, Urrainna Wilson and Tristan Wilson of Akron; a very special loving cousin, Karen K. Johnson of Akron; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends, and her church family.

A memorial service will be held 3:00 PM, Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at United Baptist Church (1007 South Hawkins Road Akron, Ohio 44320).  Rev. Kevin Rushing will officiate.  A repast will immediately follow at Lawton Street Community Center (1225 Lawton Street, Akron, Ohio 44320.)

My Loving Aunt Edna,
I will always remember my love of telling jokes and funny stories from my aunt.
My Aunt was a joy to be around and never had a harsh word to say about anyone.
I will miss your phone calls.
Your loving spirit will continue to fill our hearts.
May our fond memories of you bring us Comfort and Peace.
Your loving niece JoAnne.
