Lee Stewart Obituary

Lee Allen Stewart, 82, passed from his earthly home to be reunited with the love of his life in Heaven, Mary Alice Rowland Stewart, on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at NMMC Hospice in Tupelo. Lee was born in Tippah County on January 8, 1943, to Marlon Stewart and Mildred Maybelle Harrell Stewart.

Lee proudly served his country in the United States Army and National Guard. He was an educator in the Booneville School District for over 30 years. He touched the lives of many young people as he served as their principal, teacher, and basketball coach. Lee was a coin collector and in his spare time, he liked to watch westerns and read. Often times, you would find Lee going out with his buddies.

He is survived by his son, Benjamin Harrell Stewart (Leigh Ann); daughters, Leigh-Anne Scroggins (Jason) and Beth Marie Stewart; grandchildren, Cade Stewart Scroggins (Baley), Caleigh Grace Scroggins McMinn (Grant), Noah Allen Stewart, Jaxon Riley Stewart and MaryKate Vera Stewart; great-grandchildren, Wrigley Scott McMinn and another sweet blessing due in January to Cade and Baley; and his special pup-child and buddy, Jack Nickel.

He is preceded in death by his precious wife, Mary Alice, and his parents.

Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 16, 2025. Visitation will continue until service time at 2:00 PM. Funeral services, with full military honors, will be held at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Booneville Funeral Home. Bro. Bobby Hankins will be officiating. Burial will be in the Liberty Cemetery. Booneville Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Cade Stewart Scroggins, Chase Morris, Jaxon Riley Stewart, Noah Allen Stewart, and Grant McMinn. Honorary will be his buddies, Manford Saylors, Don Sheldon, Jimmy Coombs, and Tom Presley.
