Lee Wohlhueter, also affectionately known as Mr. Lee by many children throughout the years, 82, of Carmi, passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2024. He was born on October 17, 1941, in Maunie, Illinois, the son of Gilbert Lawrence and Zelma Valeda (Healy) Wohlhueter. Lee graduated from Carmi Township High School in 1959. He proudly served his country in the United States National Guard. Lee worked as a custodian at Big Prairie and Lincoln Elementary Schools from August, 1983, until June of 2014. He coached girls basketball at Carmi Middle School for several years. Lee was a member of Stewart Street Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon. He enjoyed going to church, keeping his truck clean, and most of all, he loved God.
Lee is survived by his nephew, Monty (Trisha) Blazier of Evansville, IN; his niece, Tammy (Bob) Rahmoeller of Grayville, IL; great nieces and nephews, Kelsey (Lincoln) Rudolph, Austin (Alyssa) Rahmoeller, Tyler Blazier and Taryn Blazier; and a brother-in-law, Darrell Blazier. He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Dee Blazier.
Funeral services for Mr. Lee will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi, with burial at Big Prairie Cemetery. Family and friends may visit from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Lee's memory to Stewart Street Baptist Church, and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. Donations may also be mailed to 609 W. Main St. Carmi, IL. 62821.
