Mr. Legrand Maness, age 97 of Hartwell, Ga., passed away on February 18, 2025 surrounded by family.
Mr. Maness was born on April 5, 1927 in Rockingham, N.C. to the late John Pleasant Maness and Maude Melton Maness. He retired from textiles in management. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corp. Legrand was well known in the Hartwell community with his many years of working at Quality Foods in Hartwell and was known as the "Sucker Man." He always put a smile on everyone's face.
Left to cherish his memory are; his children, Debra Maness Clark of Hartwell, Ga., Legrand Maness, Jr., of Atlanta, Ga., Samuel Chris Maness of LaGrange, KY, and John Mark Maness of Hartwell, Ga. Ten grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Betty Maness, siblings, John Maness, Jr., Hazel Covington and Billy Watson.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at Four o'clock in the chapel of Coile and Hall Funeral Directors. His grandson, Joshua Clark will officiate. He will be laid to rest at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Reidsville, N.C.
The family will receive friends on Friday, February 21, 2025 from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Family members will be at the home.
The family wishes to show gratitude to Hartwell Florals for their great service.
Services have been entrusted to Coile and Hall Funeral Directors and Crematory, 333 E. Johnson Street in Hartwell.
