Leigh Danenberg Obituary

Leigh Danenberg Jr.
Leigh Danenberg Jr., 92, of Milford, died at his home shared with his wife of 70 years, Charlotte Ann Southard Danenberg, on February 28, 2025. He was born on March 24, 1932, at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City to the late Leigh Danenberg Sr. and Elsie Nicholas Danenberg.
In 1933, his family moved to Easton, Connecticut, where he spent his early childhood on Sport Hill Road, in a brick house designed by his mother, Elsie. He fondly remembered the wild blueberry fields that stretched next to their home.
He attended Samuel Staples Elementary School. During World War II, with both his parents serving as war correspondents, Leigh spent two years at Cherry Lawn Boarding School.
He graduated from Valley Forge Military Academy. He enrolled at the University of Bridgeport, where he earned his Bachelor's degree in 1955 and met his future wife. During his sophomore year, he pledged Pi Omega Chi, a local fraternity. He was a reporter for The Scribe and became the school's Social Activity chairman.
On August 1, 1954, Leigh married Ann at Groton Congregational Church, and they had three children.
Leigh began his career in 1955 working alongside his father at The Sunday Herald after graduating. From 1970 to 1972, Leigh worked at Web Comp in Bridgeport. In 1972, he co-founded Herald Graphics in Stratford with three partners. He then established his own company, Graphic Image, in 1979. In 1983, he moved the business to Milford, where it has continued to thrive under the leadership of his son Randy and grandson Peter.
He will be remembered for his sharp mind, strong work ethic, and the legacy he built through both his career and the generations that follow him.
Leigh is survived by his devoted wife Charlotte Ann Danenberg, son Randall Danenberg (Carol), son Leigh David Danenberg, and daughter Lisbeth Toth (Joseph). Six grandchildren: Aaron Danenberg (Talita), Seth Danenberg (Brittany), Peter Danenberg, Jon Danenberg, Katharine Toth (Conan), and Joey Toth. Three great-grandchildren: Owen, CeCe, and Charlotte. As well as his sister Darryl Kestler (Skip) and nieces and nephews. Leigh is predeceased by his three sisters: Shirley Manasevit, Dale Scrutchfield, and Elsa Danenberg.
The family would like to thank his long term caregiver Imogine Smith and home maintenance by Angel Morales and his wife Teresa.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Sunday, March 9, 2025, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad Street, Milford. A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 2:30 p.m. Interment will be held privately by the family.

Ann and family, I am soo sorry to hear about the passing of Leigh. I have lived in Florida for the last four years or I would have known and been there. He was a great Boss and very fair and God knows back in the 70s and 80s I put in plenty of hours and so did you Ann.
I just have to share one funny memory that I still think about. I came across a tape that I brought into work one day. I popped it into the stereo and it was "1, 2, 3 Look at Mr Leigh 3, 4, 5 look at him jive, Mr Leigh Mr Leigh! " well everyone was laughing and Mr. Leigh´s face was bright red!
We had a lot of fun working at Graphic Image but we also worked hard long hours.

With my thoughts and prayers,
Diane

Leigh and Ann are two of the best people I've ever met. My heartfelt condolences to you Ann and the dannenburg family on the loss of Leigh. I know you all must be so sad, like everyone that had the pleasure to know him.

I am saddened by Lee's death. We were friends for over 60 years. I met him when I went to work for his father at Connecticut Sunday Herald. I later continued to work for Lee in most of his companies. I am sorry I am so far away and cannot make services.
