Leigh Belk Maibes-- loving daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, died unexpectedly on Friday, May 12, 2023, in her home on Lindell Blvd., St. Louis City, Missouri.
Leigh was born June 6, 1981, at Saint John's Mercy Medical Center in Saint Louis County, Missouri. Leigh graduated from Marquette High School and attended St. Louis Community College. Leigh attended Maplewood Baptist Church, made her profession of faith, and was baptized. Leigh came to believe in Buddhism's teachings-- karma, rebirth, and impermanence. Viewing life as a continuum, believing that consciousness (her spirit) continues after death.
After college Leigh had a busy real estate business in St. Louis City, was a community activist, and worked online in web-based marketing and research.
Leigh loved to travel and enjoyed the coast of Maine as a favorite destination. Leigh was glamorous, cerebral and had a mischievous wit. Her beauty, sharp mind, generosity, and larger than life presence will be remembered by all who knew her. Leigh will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Leigh is survived by her mother, Robin McClain (Vermont), her father, Steven Leon Marcotte (California), her step-parents, Jeffrey J. McClain and Deborah K. Capps, her sisters, Stewart Ashley Marcotte, Jourdan Caroline Heneisen and Nicole Ann Marcotte, and niece Alexandria Blake Gonyea (Missouri).
A private celebration of life will be held for Leigh's family and close friends in early July. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to APA of Missouri or the St. Louis Feral Cat Outreach.
