Leigh F. Peters

LEIGH F. PETERS, age 93, of Oxford, PA, formerly of Kennett Square, PA, passed away on Thursday, November 8, 2012, at the Jennersville Regional Hospital. He was the husband of Betty Emory Peters, who passed away in 1995, and with whom he shared 48 years of marriage. Born in Wilmington, DE, he was the son of the late Arthur and Evelyn Burkett Peters. He worked as an Assembly Line worker at General Motors, Wilmington, DE for 30 years, retiring in 1979. Mr. Peters attended the Kennett Square Missionary Baptist Church and was a member of the VFW Post No. 5467 in Kennett Square, PA. He served his country during World War II in the US Navy. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed spending time and taking long walks in Potter County, PA, and playing Sudoku. He loved to tell stories about the good old days and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by two daughters, Barbara Fitzgerald and her husband Wayne of Oxford, PA and Susan Broems and her husband Richard of Tioga County, PA; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by five brothers, Joseph, Arthur Jr., Robert, Thomas and Kenneth; one sister, Charlotte Manley. His funeral service will follow at 1:00. Burial will be in Longwood Cemetery, Kennett Square, PA.
