Our dear momsie, aunt, sister, and sweet friend, Leila Hanne Sørensen Hechtle, passed away, at home, on September 18th, 2025. She was born on October 25th, 1944, in Herning, Denmark to Verner and Annie Sørensen. She is proceeded in death by her parents and her only brother, Allan Sørensen.
Leila emigrated to Provo, Utah, in 1960, with her family. She graduated from Provo High School in 1962. She worked for Utah County Public Works for many years as an office manager, which she absolutely loved.
Leila married Craig B Rasmussen(divorced)and had 2 children, Hans Blaine Rasmussen and Grete Hanne Rasmussen. We later were blessed to find our brother, John Lyman, whom we located in 2017.
Our mom loved to travel. We probably visited every national park west of the Mississippi River, as well as Hawaii and Denmark, before we graduated high school. She traveled the world on her $11.00 / hour wage, with her dad, Verner, her favorite destination being her homeland, Denmark. She returned many times to visit extended family.
She had a true passion for living life to the fullest. Every person that met her never forgot her funny sayings, "Holy Toledo and Golly gosh," were her two favorites.
Leila is survived by 2 sons, Hans Rasmussen (Heidi) and John Lyman (Danni), and daughter Grete Rasmussen. She has 16 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, with the eighth great-grandchild due in April.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025. Viewing at 1:30 pm and funeral to follow at 2:30 at Ephraim Church of the Bible 380 S 400 E Ephraim, UT 84627
