Leila Rosemary Corbin Walker

Leila Rosemary Corbin Walker, of Ponchatoula, Louisiana, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on her 95th birthday on Tuesday, May 24, 2022. She was born on Tuesday, May 24, 1927, in New Orleans, Louisiana, the daughter of the late Clifton Burgess Corbin and Mary Eva Lindell Corbin. Leila was a longtime member of French Corner Baptist Church in Ponchatoula. Leila was a retired bookkeeper for companies in Baton Rouge, Hammond and Ponchatoula. In addition to her parents, Leila was preceded in death by her infant sister, Bobbie Dee; husband, Willis Walker; aunt, Gloria "Tib" Durbin; son, Robert V. Blanchard, Sr.; nephew, Keith Barrett; brother-in-law, Lionel "Joe" Barrett; and grandson-in-law, Stephen Robertson. Leila is survived by her sister, June Corbin Barrett; son, Jerry C. Blanchard (Cynthia); grandchildren, Jacqueline Blanchard Windham (Ryan), Candace Blanchard Vallery (Sean), and Samantha Blanchard Henriques (Codie); Robert V. Blanchard, Jr. (Katherine Dyan), Chalacy Blanchard Robertson, Becky Blanchard Fritchie (Luke), great grandchildren, Quinn, Cade and Evangeline "Evie" Windham; Caroline, Cole, and Scarlett Vallery; Trey and Kay Kay Blanchard; Alice and C.C. Robertson; Corbin and Cohen Fritchie; great-great grandson, Stephen Robertson; niece, Kim Barrett Justice (Buddy); niece-in-law Kari Barrett; and great nephews and nieces, Kevin Justice, Emily and Evan Barrett, and Tiffany Barrett Van Meter. A special thank you is extended to grandson Robert and his wife Dyan for opening their home and giving their time to care for Leila during her final years and to Amedysis Hospice, their staff and volunteers. Family and friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 100 W. Magnolia St., Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454 on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 am, with Bro. Eric Hattaway officiating. Interment will follow at Springfield Cemetery in Springfield, Louisiana.
