Leleith Karen Lamphier, 82, Rockton, passed away on May 10, 2023 in Rockford, Illinois. She was born on July 27, 1940, in Chicago, Illinois daughter to Charles and Leleith (Johnson) Barker. She married Tom Lamphier on February 14 in 1976 and spent 38 years of marriage before Tom's passing in 2015. Lee Karen appreciated the simplicities of life and being a homemaker. She enjoyed tending to her flower garden and researching her family history. She was an avid reader and preferred the look and feel of actual books and newspapers to anything that might be found on a computer screen.
She will be missed by those who loved her most, her children Keith Woods (the late Michael Fay) of South Beloit, Illinois, Lee Woods of Rockton, Illinois, Andrew (Tina) Woods of Carson City, Nevada, and Chris Woods of Beloit, Wisconsin; Terri Hurley of Scottsdale, Arizona and Steve (June) Lamphier of Blanco, Texas; grandchildren Baley (Treston) Ward; Brenden, Erin, and Kevin Hurley; Maya, Christal, and Adrian Lamphier; great-grandson Xaalvatore Ward; sister in law Lawana Barker, and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Tom; her parents and brothers Charles Barker and Gordon Barker.
Cremation Rites have been accorded to Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory. A private service for the family to take place. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a humane society of your choice. To send online condolences or share memories, please visit www.fitzgeraldfh.com

We have been "sisters" for over 60 years, shared many happy times raising our children, sharing recipes and numerous shopping trips. I love this picture of her...it just says it all...Tradition was really Lee Karen! I will miss you, but I know there is a star in the sky tonight that is brighter than all the rest....that will be your smile, checking on your family and friends.
