Lena Perdue

KINGSFORD - Lena Perdue, 87, of Kingsford, died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008, at ManorCare Health Services in Kingsford. She was born Aug. 14, 1921, in Thorpe, W.Va., the daughter of the late Madison and Sarah (Crigger) Sexton. Lena's passion was cooking and feeding others. She also enjoyed making quilts for her family. She was a cook at Kresge's for 10 years until her retirement in 1984. She married Ernest Perdue on May 3, 1941, in Blackwolf, W.Va. He preceded her in death on Feb. 18, 2006. Lena is survived by five children, Lane (Joan) Perdue of Green Bay, Wis., Lena Iris Eldridge of Kingsford, Dallas (Peggy) Perdue of Muskegon, Linda (Jerry) Makela of Iron Mountain, and Marvin (Debbie) Perdue of Kingsford; one sister, Cecile Ott of Kingsford; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Ernest Randall Perdue; four brothers; and seven sisters. Visitation will be Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at Tondin-Ross & Freeman Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday at 12 noon at the funeral home. Rev. Ron Wolfe will officiate. Burial will be in Dickinson County Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Gary Perdue, Randy Perdue, David Eldridge, Jeremy Perdue, Jason Perdue, Tracy Oien, Kevin Oien, and John Latoza.
